ya could only find a shade #11 shade in the shop i'll try again tonight. here a pic of the bead.

Hard to tell from the pic but it looks like you have some undercut on the top edge?

My take is you are tilting the gun a little too much in the direction you are welding. I like to keep it closer to straight up, or tilted very little away from the puddle.

Well, a #10 shade lens for a start =)

Try a couple 500W halogens on the weld area. The arc is so much brighter than the background (no matter what lens you use in front of the camera) the weld will overexpose and the reast will be too dark. Add more light around the arc and the contrast will go down, allowing for some visibility.

also... see if you can play with the shutter speed and iris controls. was able to get some decent vid of TIG a while back. I didn't have much luck with a filter...
