Anyway, last saturday on the 14th my dad and I went to check out Northern Tool to see what their selection was. Turns out, they sold some Hobarts, a Northern Tool Brand, and the Clarke 130EN. Whole package for the Clarke was $399, for everything I needed, except gloves. For the Hobart, they only had the 125 "EZ", or they could order the regular one in. (reg can upgrade to gas later).

Ok, so we checked out Northern.

Next day, the sunday paper comes. Look at what it says for the fleet farm ad:

CRAZY! For everything, even a regulator. We went to fleet farm that following evening, turns out one of the salesman had that welder for a while now. Long story short, we were there for some time, and decided to buy the welder like 10 minutes before the store closed. I was so excited, I bought my first welder.

The first night, all I could do was get things ready.

Box:

Notice, there is the hand shield. The welder comes with the hand shield. The package comes with a cheap, strap on mask. Therefore, you get two masks.

Ok, now time to assemble the cart:

You can see, on the back there are those chains. Those lock in place, providing a nice space to store your small gas tank!

There you have it! Since then, nothing has really changed. Other than the fact that it sits in the garage now, water bottle w/sprayer sitting on the spot for tank, with some rags. I also picked up an autodarkening helmet (IMO now, must have). I also picked up 2lbs of spare flux core Hobart wire for it.

Here is the first thing I made on thursday.

Nice cat, I have a calico too:jester:

Nice score on the welder, just a couple things you may want to consider, get a thinner pair of gloves, those giant things get anoying and are overkill for mig, and get yourself a better chipping hammer/wire brush, it will make life so much easier. Other than that you should be pretty well set-up:cool2:

The white coil is for gas. A LOT of the 110's use them with a quick clamp type compression fitting on the regulator's end. Haven't had any problems with mine to date, and less bulk when you're on the go.

Haven't seen any like that. I haven't looked at any 110 welders either except the baby lincoln I got. Looks like a spark could burn through thats hose pretty quickly.

No issues yet for me, but the hose is replaceable when you open it up. I suppose with a little ingenuity you could upgrade, but for their intended purpose, probably well enough left alone.

I've had mine over a year now and weld pretty much on a daily basis with it...no sparks burnt through mine. :)

Yeah, its for gas. I dont plan on going gas anytime soon as of now, so I dont really worry about it much. Flux core is working alright for me.

Pat, i played around with the Clarke some more today when i was "tac"ing togetter my battle bot, It's some 1/8" mild steel and it ran really nice on 4/7, and 3/2...

give it a shot!

So far my welder is good. I say I just need to figure out right settings. I never want to go cold, but then I go too hot and it burn though, but strong weld when right. (sorry, i can not git borat off my mind)
