I really need reading glasses to see close up work. Does anyone know of safety glasses that incorporate magnification? I would wear these under the helmet.

Certainly you can get these. I have been wearing these as long as I've had glasses, and they are mandatory for spec wearers in laboratories. The ones I have come with dinky little side shields. They have about the same "profile" are normal spectacles (although the lenses are on the large side - no little rectangular "jazz" glasses!), so they fit under naything that normal glasses will. I've used them with full face shields and welding masks and they're fine. The only thing you might find is that they are somewhat heavier than normal spectacles, and until you get used to them, they press noticably on nose and ears.

Good luck!

Hi, Lee,

Here is a link to the ones that I use.

http://www.safetyglassesusa.com/pyramex1-v2-readers.html

They are lightweight, come in several magnification levels, have good coverage, and satisfy ANSI Z87.1-2003 High Impact.

You can also Google "Safety Glasses Online" and find several companies. I'm sure other companies have bifocal type safety glasses.

Most eye glass shops can make you a set of safety glasses with prescription lenses. I've even got the the eyeglass shop in walmart make me a set. If need the cheaters you need an eye exam anyway.

I just send my guys down to Wal-mart. If your work requires you the wear safety glasses they (should) pay for them. If they don't at least it is a tax write off.
The guys say that they have at least 5 different styles there.

Do a search for Optx lenses. They are a thin plastic membrane that you wet, than they adhere to non-prescription glasses. They can be moved from one set of glasses to the next. Works of sunglasses, safety glasses, etc.

You can find them on Ebay, too.
