F500 - neat project

I will be converting the rear of this car to a 4-link setup. I will need to fab a new engine platform plus the chassis points for the radius rods. Should be fun.

The car is powered by a 440cc 2-stroke snowmobile engine producing 80hp. At only 700 lbs with me in it, it can reach 135mph. The "tranny" is a constant velocity setup such as those found on snowmobiles.

This car is a 1984 Zink Z-19, built by John Zink of two-time Indy 500 winning car builder fame. This chassis has won at both Daytone and Sebring in its heyday. It is no longer legal for road racing, so we autocross it in the SCCA F-mod class.

We will be running a National Tour event this weekend in Houston and hope to take it to the Nationals in Topeka in September. It is wicked fast and handles like a dream.

An NO, it is not a go-kart (get that comment alot).

It's jobs like this that keep welding fun no matter how much work it takes to do it. Love to take that one for a run around the track. Does it come in one size larger LOL.:laugh:
