With the high price of steel I had to build this with scrap from the bone yard out behind the shop. Seems to work pretty good.

Hi Cowboy is that an old 460 International..........after I learned to drive the H model I graduated to on of those...........

Don't recall the hydraulic pressure though.............. Do you seem to have good downforce when slideing thru a knot......... Or is it all soft pine from the background pictures...........?

Actually that tractor is an International 806. 95 hp or somewhere close. A little big for that job but it was at the shop for oil change and general mantinance.
The splitter doesn't have any trouble with any of the wood. The picture doesn't show it but I was splitting some 30" rounds. Didn't think to take picture until I was almost done. The wood I was splitting was Douglas Fir and some Alder. I had to try it out and now it goes back in the shop for paint job. Here is another picture.

The base is a couple of 4"x 2" channel welded to the I-beam with 3/8" plate welded on top, and some center supports.......junk from the bone yard out back.

95 hp? That'd be fun, I've only driven a 9N, I think it's 23 hp? I don't know what I'd do with 95 but I bet I'd think of something.

That's a great piece of work! Looks like fun to me I love getting firewood. The splitting maul is not as fast as it used to be, it's getting worn out. The motor is still in great shape though, I don't get it :confused: ;)

You probably got it too hot a couple of times. That will happen from time to time if you split too much wood too fast. Now you've totally ruined it. Guess you'll have to get one of those new hydraulic ones !! Dern. Save that old motor for something else.
