This came in today, a fuel rail off a LS1 V-8 motor. Guy was swapping injectors
and was a little too rough with his wrenches. It cracked all the way around.
Procedure was:
1 - test with magnet, stuck to -4, didn't stick to "collar" around -4 fitting
2 - next test, spark test - determined to be stainless, next choose wire
3 - TIG wire chosen, 309L for dissimilar metals, I also had 308 but went with 309 for a smoother blend.
4 - clean, clean, clean - stainless wire brush, a dab of grinding, acetone wipe
5 - these rails are small and fragile! I and the customer were happy with the results:

edit: oops, forgot material/welder setup:
DC-
30 amps
3/32 red tung'er
1/16 wire
light tap on pedal
argon gas at 11cfh

That is the fuel rail repair, I hope someone learned. :)
I have and enjoy sharing. Thanks for looking.

Thanks Zap and David! She isn't a pretty weld but both sides flowed well into each other and the SS rod.

edit: A positioner? Not anytime soon. I wish though...
