View Full Version : Jave and Fire Fox not playing well on this site
To the powers that be...
I can not edit any posts I make or use ALL the options in the advanced editor (smiles at this time)
System:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070725 Firefox/2.0.0.6
WIN-XP Pro latest updates
Latest version of Java...
My gues is a Java problem, but may also be HTML...
You should try to use valid code for this website, on this one page there are 266 errors... :nono:
This page is not Valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional!
Result: Failed validation, 266 Errors
File: upload://Form Submission
Encoding: utf-8
Doctype: XHTML 1.0 Transitional
Root Element: html
Good luck :waving:

I use both Netscape, at home and Firefox, in my shop on a daily basis...without error. It sounds to me that it's possible either your OS is corrupted, the browser software itself or you have a nasty piece of spyware or virus.
Try updating your browser and or re-installing and then check to make sure you have the latest version of anti-virus and spyware with the most recent updates. After that, run full scans on both. Let us know after you've confirmed those. Thanks.
Java version: 1.6.0_2. from Sun
What are you running?

Basically the same version but mine is 1.6.0_02-b06.
If I can find the problem I will jet you know...

Okay, update your software and run a few full scans.

Well...I havn't been around for quite a while, but I'll try to chime in a bit on this.
First, this page (editor) uses Javascript, not Java. They are two very, very different things. :)
As for the 266 errors, yes the page is fairly messy, but it won't make a difference with the rendering of firefox. (I am using 2.0.0.6 to write this, on a win xp pro box) It is definitely a client error (Not you, your computer). :)

Speaking of java errors.. Not sure this is related to java, but I'm getting "You may not connect to DigiChat because no site with the specified ID could be found." error when I try to log into chat. I've had this error for the past 3 days or so.

Yes - I think something is wrong with the chat. A PM has been sent to the Admins. Thanks for the heads up as well.
Well just updated for FF 2.0.07 and all is good...
And I never said the forum had a problem, just the advanced editor Javascript part.
And knowing the code sucks is not a good excuse for errors... I realize that in a dynamic site it is a pain to kill all of them but standards are put out for a reason and developers should at least try to stick to them.
Just my view... Please don't take it the wrong way.
