I just purchased a arcmaster 185 two weeks ago and plan to add a watercooled torch and radiator to the unit. What would you guys recommend? What is a fairly compact, but common torch setup that I can purchase? I also want to add a gas lens to the torch when doing stainless, so I need to keep it compatible with that.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Regards,
Justin

I would like an answer to that as well.

Get/make a heat exchanger or just use street water with a solenoid valve and water filter.

I am planing in adding a relay to my gas solenoid to also turn on the water.

Thermal Arc Sells a 10-2027 that will adapt that unit to a watercooler. They also sell a Model Coolflo-12 which is a fairly compact radiator that can lay horizontal or vertical. Part# 170844-001

I have a TA185 which I converted to water cooled torch using a Weldcraft WP-20 torch kit and the an adapter from Arc-Zone. They knew exactly what I needed and shipped M&M's too :). Gas lenses are available for this torch and it is compact. Although I am just an amateur learning to TIG, I have had no issues in the 2 years I have had this set-up. The water cooler itself has many options from using your local water supply, making a system or getting into the commercial coolers available. I got a great deal on a used Bernard, so that is what I have.

Hope this helps,

I bought a cooler KIT from IOC off ebone. $544.00 for EVERYTHING needed.

Cooler, torch, hoses, ADAPTER.....

Love it.

For gas lenz, and consumables, try weldingdepot.com. Best prices.

Did you get the Lincoln kit or the Miller kit?

best to not use strait tap water, distiled with a cooler coolant. adding a fuse link is also a good safety back-up.;)
i'm still slowly collecting parts to build my own cooler.........some day it will all go together.:D i left plenty of space below my TA on the cart for one.:)

I got a Dynaflux TIG'r water cooler from www.arc-zone.com and a CK20 25' water cooled torch with super flexy hoses from www.ckworldwide.com and got the small gas lens kit for it. The torch came with a Dinse water cooled torch plug and a built-in finger control. I ended up adding an Arc Zone foot control when I found out I couldn't operate the finger control. I've been very happy with this set-up (except for the finger control).

Lincoln with the gas through the dinse connector.

I have had it for 6 mos and just took out the distilled water and added some tig cooler anitfreeze and fresh distilled water. No porblems except the ONE time I forgot to plug it in and smoked the power cable to the torch. A replacement was $44.00, so I don't think I will do it again.

i'll see if i can find a link to the fuse link for ya, it will save ya the $44 if you forget again.;)

i have not tried the finger control yet, i think a push button with sequencing would be easy-er to work with. lots of people seem to have trouble with the finger control, takes some getting used to from what i have heard. foot is easy-er to learn on.

IOC has a good price on that kit, it just hit me that that includes the torch!
I was thinking about making a cooler but now I am thinking buy the kit.

Torch = $100
Adapters = $50
Hose = $10
Cooler, buy new = $500, make ~$75 min.

It's looking good.
