Do you have the oven to use with it?

I have it but havn't used it yet. I need to build the over first. I have some projects to powder coat this winter and will post how it goes when I get it completed. I have some of the Harbor Freight powders but I am planning on getting some of the good powders from Eastwood.

Actually, it only requires an oven that can maintain 400 degrees for 2 hours. A kitchen oven (not IN the kitchen) can do this just fine, if ya gots a place to put one.

They tested the Craftsman one in JP Magazine and got outstanding results with the kitchen oven.

Make sure to use an electric house hold over. I went through the trouble of getting a propane over thinking that I would set it up out doors and use a 20lb propane tank to run it but when I was reading the safety sheet ( Which I did really read ) it said not to use gas fired ovens as the gases produced during the curing process can be explosive. ventilation is a must. The eastwood web site has a pretty good forum on the powder coating side just stay away from the welding section and a guy called william, he's a space monkey.

Glad you brought that up as I was wondering if gas were a viable way to go (I suspected it wasnt). I had contemplated building a masonary "BBQ" with some propane burners to get something large enough for bumper frames and such. Alas...the best laid plans...

Hmm..wonder if there's any pizza ovens around town?

I have one and it works perfect. I have a thread on here where I did some powder coating on some valve covers that turned out great. Can't beat it for the price. I saw it on sale last week for like $49.

That's the one I'm looking at. It does require an oven. Basic process (according to my own ignorance) is this electrostatically applies the powercoat and the oven causes it to flow and bond.

I have the HF powder coating setup and one of their ovens I got for 100 bucks. It has worked fairly well, the only complaint I have is it wastes a lot of material since it doesnt atomize as well as some more expensive guns.

For coatings, I use www.columbiacoatings.com

A few pics of the work I have done with this setup:

It was black chrome, it is a double duty coating since you have to clearcoat them to protect the chromium flake
