Just finishing up a frame off restoration. Was originally a dump truck but I built a dually bed for it with 3" stretched fenders. Also has a 4" lift. I will upload more pictures when I get it out in the daylight. It is an original Marmon Herrington conversion.

Your pickup looks great; one item I see would be nice is to have your running boards go from front fender to the rear fender. This HELPS alot in keeping stuff off your rear fenders. I'm sure you will have many great hours of fun with it.

A real truck! It needs to be in a Ford commercial. I would send a picture to Ford and maybe a producer will see it.

Nice job on the restoration. Love to see those old trucks put back in proper running condition rather than get crushed and recycled, or allowed to rust away in a field somewhere.
Not to be too picky, but I believe you have directional tires on it and they are on backwards from the way they are intended to be. When you get it in some mud they will slick over quickly and quit pulling, unless your going backwards. If you look on the sidewalls it should have an arrow indicating intended direction of rotation. Take a look and see if it's on there. Just like farm tractor tires, they produce the most pulling force going forward, not backwards.

Same age I am but in a little better shape. Uses the BUDDs 16" 5 hole split rims or have you just kept the centers and upgraded the rims? Very keen indeed, you did a wonderful job.

i went and took a look at the tires as you had me thinking. the tires have the same tread either way and no arrow for direction.

I can see now in the other pics that the tires are bi-directional. The first pics I couldn't see the inside lugs on the left side tires, and the tread I could see looked like they were the directional type, like Grand-Prix offroad tires.
Nice work on the bed work too.
Glad you were able to rehab and retain the original running gear, they don't make nothing like that anymore. It's probably more truck than the newer one you have.

Nice truck, glad you kept it original. I had a 65' factory 4x4 and it had the same beastly look to it. Now I have the bug for another ford older than 73'.

the next restoration will be a chevy/gmc 1947-52 cabover. the body will be restored to the original look. it will be repowered with a cummins 12 valve motor and the interior will be up to date with a nice air conditioning/heat set up. it will be my shop truck/daily driver. hopefully i will have a gmc coe i have been trying to get within 2 weeks so i can get started.

I love those GMC cab overs, my dad had a 54' 3100 with all the options, lighthouse cab, auto, blinkers and heat. A 671T would be a nice "vintage" powerplant for that truck.

The earleir M101 Military 3/4 ton trailers use the same 5 lug wheels you are using I think? They are a 16" split rim. IF? you needed a cool trailer there are many for sale military surplus.
So.. if I understand the technique you simply get a kool truck and poor $ and time into one end and sure enough a jewel rolls off the other. Great advertising I would think?

Well the first one was expensive. I take my time in finding what I need so I don't make impulse decisions. I fabricate everything I need in my shop usually using leftover materials from customers jobs. My time that I have into the projects is my pleasure so to me that's a bonus. I can actually get a complete truck finished for number$ you can hardly believe
