I've been having a problem with some material from the mill with red "weld able" primer on it. I'm running .045 dual shields at various temps and speeds but I am still getting pinholes left and right. The only way I can get away from that is to prep the areas needed to be welded and with it tacked down already, it's still not 100%. Any help with this would be great.

i never like to weld over mill finishes, i always take a grinder with a sanding disk and expose fresh metal first, seems to help me out:)
I've never had very good luck MIG welding through these "weldable primers". I think stick welding is what they refer to when they say "weld able". I always grind off the stuff.

Bad thing is that stick welding isn't good for production.
