Let's jsut say i'm getting bored with my plain bacl welding helmet... is there any specific materials to stay away from when painting it or slapping some stickers on it? will the sticker adhesive melt under the heat of the arc and cause me to have seizures when i breathe the fumes? i doubt it, but i wanted to make sure before i did anything, what's the word? oh yeah... "Stupid"

I haven't had any problems with stickers or the acrylic paint that I used on my helmets.

A couple of years ago I dropped my hood from about 35 foot in the air, how did it do you ask? Well not to good, so anyways I go to the closest lws to get a new one and the only hood they had was in white of all colors. After seeing my new hood my nieces said it didn't look mean enough and they bought some decals to make it look tougher. To make a long story short these stickers have been on here for a few years now with no ill side effects. Dave

It depends what your helmet is made of but avoid lacquers. Reducers are less likely to attack plastics than lacquer thinner.
