Old man, new to the list. Lots of welding stuff, Oxy acetylene, a Lincoln buzz box, a 110 v Lincoln Mig and my newest, a Lincoln 175 Tig. Found out welding aluminum is harder than it looks. Was practicing on some cut up extrusions from screen doors. Found out I can make a hole quicker with the tig than I can with a drill press. Guess I can't stand and use the foot control with any degree of finesse. Learned about the Tig suntan real quick too. No more shirtless stuff either. Nice being onboard.

Good to have you... Most screen doors are anodized and have to have that removed before you can get a decent bead going. Find yourself a stainless wire brush and some acetone and a nice small piece of aluminum stock. You can still punch holes quickly if you hesitate too long, but you can also get a bead going before you have melt-thru.
