I'm new here and I have an opportunity to purchase a Lincoln SP200 mig welder. Does anyone have experience with this welder and any advice of what to look for in this used welder. The welder is probably 15 years old.
Please reply and thanks.

This has been a good machine for me. I bought one about 14 years ago, used, for $1000. We have used it about 2 times a week for that 14 year period. No problems.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I bought the welder but havent' used it. I have to get a bottle of gas, a roll of wire, and wire up a plug for it. I have a buddy that said it was a real fine, industrial strength, welder.
Thanks again for the reply.

These are great machines. We had two at a company I used to work for. They now have one and I have the other. :) I bought it from them for $500 including some spare parts, a new liner, and a new spool of wire. Bought a bottle of gas and it has sat in a corner of the basement for 10 years or so. I don't get in a big hurry. I am getting fired up to get it running as I have several projects brewing.

I have an SP100 and a wirematic 250. The wirematic is bigger than your sp200, but same idea. You're gonna like it!

i have a sp 135 which according to the Linclon people is the same as the sp175 without the 175 amp tap on the transformer and which has a minimum duty cycle at the high amperage, it has been a great machine, but I want one that will do nearly any welding I need to do from sheet metal to auto frames, I do have a large tig unit and gas and arc. But the ease of using a mig that will do all my steel welding needs would be nice and the tig is left for other metals and for specialty work. that for your input ED
