My press decided it didnt want to release. I use it basically to swage tubing for exh systems. What I found was the o ring sealing the fitting on the ram side had come loose and blocked the hole so the fluid would not return from the ram. The local hydraulic hose store had a new 1/4" high pressure coupler. So I installed a new one . And it is amazing how fast the ram returns now. It has never returned very fast. The new quickcoupler has a much larger orifice in it. This thing rocks now.
The new coupler however was about 25% of the price for a new press.

Pics of your setup would be really nice. Never heard of this use for a ram before.

That's a nice little press. I just finish using my 20 ton press, I use it for everything now. I made a brake for it and use it to bend 90's and 45's in steel and aluminum. The only thing wrong that I found with Harbor Freight presses are the two work blocks, they are made out of cast steel. I broke a set in 2 pieces crushing beer cans 2 days after I set the press up. Harbor Freight replaced them and I now have a set cut out of 2" steel plate.

44811 is a lot bigger than it looks in the picture. It comes with plates that are rolled steel not cast - flat on both sides and the round notches are really round. I bought one for work. The quality is pretty good for HF. Much nicer than my Homier 12 ton H frame and I think it has quite a bit more steel in it.
