Hey what are the thoughts on a mitech welder? They are sold on ebay. Im looking for a cheap welder that can do ac/dc. Any other suggestions?

According to what you want to do, stay with a brand name, so you can get service when needed. Lincoln or Miller, not ESAB (many reasons). John

Well they offer a 1 year warranty. What miller/lincoln would you suggest as a good but cheap welder. Something that can do ac/dc and up to say 10mm SS or so. I also dont want lift arc. Also what is pulse/square wave? Im really leaning twords a miller/lincoln. Ive seen plenty for sale that are very old, so quality is there but Im not sure that I want to spend the money. Im really torn between price and quality, I think Im just going to wait a few months to save up, plus winter is coming so I cant weld, and then buy a better welder. Unless any one has other input on what else to do or what miller/lincoln to get?

Nothing wong with ESAB, they used to be Linde Divn. Union Carbide and I have a retirement from them, but there are certain things they don't have, or didn't have. They never made a stick machine because the OCV was to low, never 70 to 80 for good stricking abilities for 7018 or 6010, that is why I said no to ESAB for AC/DC welders. John
