Great deal -- thanks for posting. I wanted one for Christmas -- guess Santa is coming early.

Much obliged --

Sounds like a deal--BUT, they are now showing $249.99 as the price on the website. Don't know how long it will stay at that price.

You might want to read this post on metalmeet.com. I was going to buy the Harblr Freight E-wheel, but after doing a lot of research I am going to build my own the winter. Their are a lot of issuse with the HF E wheel.

Thanks for the link. I already caught part of that post there but I'm not reading 20 pages worth of profesionals bashing a beginners tool. I know what top quality wheels cost. I bought this to give wheeling a shot and if I don't like it I'm not out much. If I do like it then when I feel worthy and can justify buying a nice wheel then that's what I will do :) Until then I'll rock the HF wheel and be just fine with it :D

from what I have learned and I have done a lot of research on this, you will not get a feel for E-wheeling with this unit. I am not experienced enough to get into it but it has something to do with true radius die's. Here is quote from that post that helped me make up my mind on what to get.

" Not so with the Cwheel. I don't see the Cwheel as much of a threat...at least not to us, maybe to the builders of the bottom end machines. What I hate about it is that people are going to think that the Cwheel is the way things are supposed to be and never understand that there is a better and even less expensive way. We'll have people coming up to us at events and asking questions here and on MSA for the next 900 years about how to do quality work with the Cwheel.

I can hear it now, "Why does my machine make groves in the panel???" "I tried to make a door skin and it just didn't work. This metalshaping stuff is black magic and trick photography!"

Heck, three pieces of tubing and a trailer jack can make a better machine than this. A caster wheel and one or two of Joe's or Genes anvils would be a cheaper and much better machine than the Cwheel.

I'm probably going to either shut down or scale way back anyway. I've got things I want to do before I die and I'm just too old to work this hard for nothing.

I think you're missing my point. No only do I not think the Cwheel will hurt my business, I DON'T CARE! My bitch is that the Cwheel is junk with out of round true radius anvils. Little learning will happen even though the buyers won't know or understand that. A lot of us here on MetalMeet have spent a LOT of time, energy, and money educating and teaching folks about metalshaping and apparently it's an exercise in futility.

If this were my site (and it's not), I'd ban them from discussion. Metalshaping and the Chinese Wheel don't belong in the same sentence.

Their is to much info to read but on metalmeet Kerry shows several ways to make a great E wheel without braking the bank.

I am going to build my own using these die's and anvil which will give me a way better E wheel and I wont spend much more money than if I bought the HF E wheel.

That was put very well by Kerry. I took a look at the link that you posted. That looks like a nice deal! I should have did a little looking around I guess
I guess I could pitch the hf wheels and try to salvage the stand when I rake up a couple hundred dollars to purchase some wheels like you are looking at. I have gotten great value from your 2 posts in this thread and I appreciate it! Rock on and post up some pics as your wheel build makes progress :)

I stopped by HF again today (didn't buy anything). I looked at their English Wheel. The adjusting screw was pretty rough, but some grease would probably help. I was not impressed with the round roller. The finish was poor.

Don't worry, we have all spend money on things that didn't turn out the best. When I get started I will be sure to post up some pic's for you. I will mention something here if i havn't all ready. the Harbor Freight Planishing hammer does seem to be a good deal. I bought one and so far found it to work very well.
