a couple of days a go i was useing oxy tourch next to some fire bricks and i set the tourch down lit becouse its a pai to start up a agin. when i can back the brick was to bright to see so i moved the tourch and a hot blob of liquid brick of what ever it was exploded and hit me in the face.:blob2: :blob2: I have me welding mask down, because i was waching the brick throught my mask.
it ruened my mask but save my face.:eek: you here that kids were you masks and head bukets

You forgot the biggest safety lesson of all, DON'T PUT THE TORCH DOWN WHILE ITS LIT!:jester:

Ouch! I stick mine in a 55 gal drum where you pour out the stuff. I bet those mosquitos hate me for that. It doesn't roll around and I know exactly where its at and it doesn't burn anything unwanted.

Its kinda like a porous stone type material I think that is used to line chimneys because it can withstand very high temps without flaking off or breaking. They cut it the same size as a 'regular' brick.

When bricks are stacked in a furnace for firing, the ones in the center that get the hottest were used as 'fire bricks'..
They are used in the interior of masonry fireplaces, or firebox.
Look in any kiln or glass furnace and you'll find fire brick.
