Which electrode?

:blush2: I am welding stainless (304ss) to carbon steel (ex. exhaust pipe on my truck), which electrode would you recommend? I would prefer to MIG it but the machine I have access to is not close enough. So, I am going to arc weld it using 3/32 electrode and keep the amps down a little more than you normally would with stainless. Just want an electrode recommendation. Thank you.

For joining stainless to carbon steel use 312 or 309. If you use any other stainless rods cracks will develop later in time.

use 309 Lrods and weld it downhill,this will help with burn thru.
