Question: I am making a Thumb wheel. ...Due to the size of the thumb wheel it is not COTS available.... Therefore, the piece parts are 1/4 x20 threaded rod stock (316L)....pretty sure this is available,...and a 1.5" dia x 0.170" (316L)disk.
I need to weld the two pieces together, cleanly without having a gross HAZ and any part distortion. Planning on having the disk drilled in the center to accept the threaded rod stock to ensure perpendiculairty of the pieces so the thumb wheel spins true. But I do not know what Welding process and weld rod material (if any needed) to specify/call on my mechanical drawing NOTES, so "any qualified welding house" can successfully quote and manufacture this hardware. I appreciate any quidance as to what the correct note sets for my mechnanical drawing to achieve this hardware.
Thanks!
