I have a old MC509 cutting torch.
How do I remove the cutting tip from the torch?
I removed the compression nut and so far this thing won't budge.
Any help wound be appreciated.

It's just pressed in right?
The compression washer just spins on the back of the tip correct?
I just banged on it no luck so far...put some heat on it maybe?

Light taps is the best way. Most of the Smith torches use a tip with a graphite gasket that gets crushed/cracked if the tip is cranked too tight. Then, the seal leaks, sometimes jams up, and occationally crud from burnback gets in and wedges the tip as well. Heat might help, but I wouldn't get it too hot. In use, the gas flow helps keep the head from overheating and burning the seals.
