First I had a cylinder to break down this morning, but took a special wrench I didn't have. That' not unusual, so Time to make a wrench. 17916
Star with some Scrap steel ofcourse. No need to waste good steel on a wrench I probably won't use but once.

17918
Then weld up a handle, and add some 3/8" cold roll.
17919
And now we have a wrench.

one job down so on to the next one........

Well New Irrigation pump was installed, and needs to be hooked back up to the existing pipe. OK You guys know I'm not a pipe guy so go easy on me here. ;) the only code I have to meet is that it doesn't leak.
17923
This is the old connection. Seems the hose just won't hold the 180psi. It keeps blowing off and wetting the guy. So time to start cutting...
17924
Now I have to weld the elbow back to the existing pipe. Ran 6010 roots, and capped with 3/32" 7018

Welding up the flanges and reducers to connect the cutoff to the check valve. these were clean steel so I ran 6013 inside and out.
17926
17927
Then cut a section of 6" OD galvanized, and slide into place. I hate this stuff, but it's what the irrigation dealers gives me, so I use it.
17928
Now connected to the pump.
17929
a couple pics of the 6G. It was only about 8 inches off the ground, but not to bad for someone who doesn't do a lot of pipe welding.

Well, This is kind of my day to day routine if you can say I have one. Rarely do two days have me repeating anything. I primarily do field repairs, but I have a full machine shop. I do lathe and mill work as well as welding. I also will repack a cylinder, or rebuild a gear box if a client needs it. I have an irrigation dealer that uses me for all of his pipe work and welding, and usually pipe about 20 of those systems above a year. Most of them I fabricate in the shop, and they will bolt it up in the field. I also do alot of fabricating of equipment, some ornamental stuff, and I do some shut down work at times too. So to answer your question yea I do alot of oddball job, but it suits me. I have to have a change. I get bored easy if things get to repaticious.:D Thanks to all for the comments. ~Jackson

Good work on the pipe and pump. So these guys are pumping from that pond or whatever down below up to a field? What's that firehose affair, primer??

Nice work. You did more pipe in a day than I do in years. I like the 6013 welds.
When you toss that wrench or turn it into something else, you will need it again :)

Yep, these pumps have to be primed on the suction side so most will run a hose around to the back side of the check valve with a cut off so that they can just open the valve and let the back pressure fill it. It's easier than jerking on that hand pump all day long,
