Hey guys any simple formulas to help me make this window insert? Thanks for any help

to keep it simple. I would do draw two perpendicular rectangles with centerlines bisecting. The length of the rectangles would match the longest diagonal across the octagon, while the width would match the one sides measure. Then connect the rectangles with a diagonal line.

Then use it as a template for the window after trimming it to the exact dimensions.

Not really sure what your after but..
Angles are 120° so set your drop saw or what ever to 30° for mitres.
Side length will be 0.57735 of width measured between parallel sides .
Side length will be 0.5 of width measured from pointy bit to pointy bit.

You just cant trust existing windows to be a regular (even all sides) hexagon.

Woooo!

I just noticed ...that an Octagon !

Ignore post!

Set saw to 22.5°
length of side 0.41425 of parallel width

ha ha yeah I figured out the 22.5 degrees, I'm just making a make shift jig out of scrap wood, All the sides are little different, thanks for the help guys
