Can anyone suggest a good bender or a way to bend 1 1/2'' hollow sqaure tubing?Looking to bend them into 45's and 90's.Its a one time project so im not looking to spend a real lot on a machine if possible or if anyone knows were to buy prebent peices or something along that lines.thanks!
Prebent square tubing is available from R B Wagner- and they use about a 200 thousand dollar machine to do it. So they do a decent job.
Wagner makes all kinds of cool pipe rail parts, brackets, spheres, base plates, you name it. Get em to send you a catalog.
You need to order thru a distributor, but I think you can do it online from their sister company, jg braun.
The only way to bend it without real tools is to heat it with a rosebud, then pull it with a cheater bar, maybe using a jig to get the same bend every time. But it will crinkle up in the inside of the bend when you do that. If you dont care about the crinkle, then that is a good fast way to do it.
Personally, I use my hossfeld bender, which you can get dies for to make nice bends without too much deformation on the tube. But tooled up, you are talking maybe $1500.
I also use my powered angle rolls- $7000.
You need real tools to do most tricky things and have em come out looking spanking. Thats why fabricators can charge $100/hr.

I ran across a site than explains how to make your own ( http://www.stagesmith.com/gallery/shop_projects/tube_bar_roller/index.html ) but I don't know how well it does with 90 degree angles.

I have seen hickeys made from a car wheel.

Thanks a real lot guys.Wagner seems to have some nice peices that will work well.I have acces to some big rolls and stuff but its kind of a hassle seeing the project is away from the tools by quite a bit. Thanks again!
