depends on what you will be doing with it it could be handy like that if you will be cutting on it, but for welding I would put a top on it or at least on half of it.

I will be doing welding on it, I was thinking putting a top on half of it. I was also thinking I shoud be painting it JD Green instead of IH Red.

Put a full top and back splash on it. Hang some of the basics on the back splash. Paint it the old BLM tan so it will set where you saw it last it.:)

Redneck, my top is in two halves with a gap about six inches between the halves.
I did it like that originally because that's the plate I had, but I now like it because I can clamp things in the middle.
I also find that when I'm working on it, the work piece ends up on one half, and the tools, rods etc end up on the other half. The seperation works well.

I think I will end up doing that, leaving a gap. But we all know that it will not work well with out a good paint job.

I can only picture two right now.
The lighter, older "Y" block blue, and the darker blue that was on everything for about 25 years.
What was the other one?
