Has any one ever used an optrel shaded cover plate?
im thinking about hte blue on because it adds one shade # and possibly make the arc blue ive heard. and i also heard that a blue arc would be better for your eyes? and easier to distinguish the puddle for aluminum?
just seeking any comments from people who have used before i buy.
thanks,
-Justin

Where do you get them????? I have been looking for blue lenses for ages!!!!!
I have had "COLBOLT BLUE" lenses and I have known guys that have had "COOL BLUE" lenses...they are so much easier on the eyes and they allow you to see the puddle and what is around you with the blue shaded lenses. Both of these lenses have been discontinued. I hope that you get back to us quickly!!!

ive never used a blue filter, but i use gold plated filters in most of my hoods, and the arc is a blueish color through it. The gold plating blocks out more UV and infrared light than standard greens.

The new advanced sensor technology of the Optrel Orion welding helmet can automaticaly moved for the shade levelwithin 9 to 13 depending on the measurable light intensity. we can fine tune and customize the automatic adjustment by +/-1 shade.:)

I think he is attempting to achieve a change based on the color of the filter rather than the fine tuning of +/1 shade. Most LCD filters are color agnostic, attenuating all colors equally. The blue filter will suppress yellow more than the other colors, which, in theory, allows you more easily see the puddle. You can think of it as +3 or +4 for yellow and +1 for all other colors.

Aww that sucks...I loved the blue lens that I have...I only have one left and the place that I used to get them from in the Carolina's no longer carried them and I have not found them anywhere!! They are glass and mine were in shade 10...they were so "easy" on the eyes...A buddy of mine is green color blind. He has a hard time seeing with a green. We have found Grays for him to use. But he uses a blue and sees just fine!! He is on his last Blue lense too. The mirror lenses cause me to see triple vision. I wear glasses so the light comes through the lense, bounces off my glasses then bounces off the lense again! They just don't work for me. I may have to try these "Shades"!!!
Man I miss my blue lenses

I just got off the phone with my local suppy house...They told me that these blue lenses are just over glorified cover lenses...the tint just changes the shade from say 10 to 11 Oh well
