A company that provides dry docking and ship repair services, located in Alameda, has multiple openings for structural welders.

This is a contract-to-hire, day shift position that pays between $18-$22/hr. The shift is 7am - 3:30pm plus overtime.

All qualified candidates MUST submit to a strict drug and background check.

Major Job Responsibilities and Duties:

- MIG and some TIG welding on marine parts (boats, ships and yachts)
- Performing other related duties as required

Job Skills and Experience:

- Must have 3-5 years of welding in a production environment
- Must have MIG and TIG experience
- Experience with carbon steel and aluminum
- Strong preference for welders with marine welding experience (boats, ships, yachts, etc.)
- Must be able to work outside (extreme heat and cold rain)
- Must be comfortable with a 6/10's schedule (6 days/week, 10/hr days)

With the wage per hr, and the experience required good luck with that.
Although not a bad hire in pay for welders with a years experience, or trade school degree.

Three years of welding Alum. ( 3mil - 17mil) in 6G and the company I work for does not even pay that. And we build medical equipment. I would jump on that if it was in my area.

Only $22 an hour? Shipyards in Jacksonville FL start at $23 an hour with and outstanding FULL benefits package for permanent hire in. A brand new 3 bed condo that would sell for $136K in Jacksonville would fetch $500K in CA. Personally, I would never be interested in an offer like that unless I already owned cheap housing that was bought years ago.
