Hello to everyone,

My name is James. I am new to the board and new to being a welder.

I have been around welding all my life as my dad and uncle are both certified welders. My problem is that they always were around to do my welding for me. My uncle moved to Alabama last year and my father is now retired and busy fishing and camping.

He last helped me weld a bracket to mount a large screwdriver ham antenna on my truck. I always have a need to weld something, fenders welds breaking on my boat, utility trailer, etc.

I finally made my mind up that I was going to buy the equipment and become a welder. I had welding some ( a little) under the supervision of my father and uncle, and did fairly well, I had just never really taken a great interest in doing it myself.

I went out and bought a Licolon Stic Welder and a Hobart Mig welder and I have been having a blast. I think the welding / metal working bug has bitten.

I have built a welding table and recently completed a folding tailgate / ramp for my utility trailer.

I am looking forward to learning from all you guys and finding new projects to build. This is a great and useful hobby that I have found.

I have also found out that welding makes you a junk collector, I certainly look for and save every scrap piece of metal I can find to put into place for some future project. I am currently working on a mailbox post from scrap wrought iron railing that a neighbor was throwing away.

Sincerely,

James
