Deadman1474 probably means a fork-lift truck; with the pan so close to the ground that there's no room to drain it.

Warm the engine up, and pull the oil out with a diaphragm pump, or an inexpensive marine top-side oil change pump. You will probably use a tube inserted in the dip stick tube as the suction pickup.

Good Luck

Tell me what brand I may be able to help you. I worked on forklifts for 15 years.

I even have a forklift jack.

Sorry for the quick and cheesy post. I was in a hell of a hurry and was on my pda waiting in line. I know that I should have just waited till later to post but what ever. I meen a a lift truck of fork lift. One is a white and the other is a toyota. The guy that I got them from said that he had the toyota maintaned all the time and the white fork lift has never had an oil change. Good thing I got them for free. And yes white is the brand of the fork lift and no I do not have a fork lift jack or any other fork lift equipment. I got them for free and just need on to put a fork with a trailer ball to move around our trailers. And the better one just to move around steel racks. Thanks to who ever knows how to change the oil. And what ever else would be recomended to do to them.

Don't know how to do this without reviewing the machine., But manuals are available for about or less than 50 bucks.:

Get a thin metal drain pan. Slide it under the machine, pull the plug like you would any other engine and drain it out. (you gotta lay on the floor) Get #s off the oil filter and replace that too. 10W40 or 10W 30 should be fine. Propane powwer?

I think on the toyota's, you turn the steering wheel one way and can get to ALL the grease fittings on the steer axle. (king pins and tie rod ends) Oil the lift chains while you are at it.

Man I greased that chain up it no longer sounds like your brewing a witch when you lift it. Haveing two of them now I might go and get a fork lift jack. But I ended up makeing the oil pan and it works great. Try and go to autozone and ask the retart for a oil filter by just telling him the number on the oil filter. Which kind of car sir 1996 toyota fork lift. Sorry sir it dosent list your veical in our system

I'm not a fork lift mechanic but have been told by more than one to NOT lube the lift chain as it collects dirt and causes more wear than a dry chain - which could explain why yours was dry in the first place.

most forklilfts i've been around it was no big deal to change the oil.some have a full lenght skid plate with holes to work through. its a PITA but doable.a few was a lat easeir to get the filter off with a jack however. sometime driving the lift up on thin boards will let you get a regular floor jack under it.
