I have a 94 grand cherokee that i need to replace the rocker panels on. It looks like i need to just put the new ones up trace them out and cut the old ones out. Has anyone ever done this before.

Basically yes thats all you have to do. Just remember to cut the old rockers out smaller than the new ones if at all possible. this makes them stronger and the fit more accurate.
Post some pics so we can see what your doing.

I always drill the spot welds out and use the hole as a way to weld them back on like a spot weld, On some new rockers they have dip in the ends of them so you can slide them under the sheet metal to weld them back on and grind down flat with a skim coat of filler
