My son, 13, and I were trying out the Everlast 200P TIG AC/DC/pulsed welder on 1/4" steel. I did not clean/prep his piece, will tonight. As his looks a little rough. But he loves to plasma cut and wanted to learn to weld.

Using TIG DC pulsed HF. Snapped a picture of the front, knobs and welds. Using straight argon 20cfh and thoriated tungsten. Also, used the foot pedal, a must for TIG as I have now know for a fact. Only used 1 1/2 rods, thought it would take more as it had a fair bevel.

Also, if you use these setting add some after gas to avoid that little crater at the end.

I thought you had a Super200P? Is this the Super200P, it doesn't look like one to me.

I thought you had a Super200P? Is this the Super200P, it doesn't look like one to me.

I ran out and took a picture. I have a Super200P (yellow unit), Cut50D (small yellow on the cart) and a TIG 200P AC/DC/MMA (red, I like the red better). I have a house, 3 boys and 4 buildings I work at. Like to have a unit at each place eventually. Was gonna carry one around with me (super200P).

My Dad wants a couple Cut50Ds too, he already has a big miller, but likes the small sized cutter. Welders are starting to be like reading glasses, one every place I go. :)

So small unit on cart is Cut50 cutter, Red unit is the TIG/MMA only, Yellow is my Super200P Stick/TIG/plasma. Oh the blue one is a HF MIG 100, not sure if you can see my 2 oxy/acet sets, but buried in that mess are an MC and C set. I have two sets of oxy/acet and two welding masks as well. Starting to see a pattern here. I like backups. :)

The plasma cutter is now my 13 years olds. He really like cutting things for me.

Here's a post you did just 10 days ago below, wow I guess that tight buget went out the door ha??? How long have you had that Tig 200P ? Looks like the office is suffering too these days with the Cut50 snatched to your own garage ha.. hahahaha.

Re: AC/DC/Plasma Import.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Though it cost more, the better thing fo4r me would be have been to get the ACDC Tig and plasma cutter as two units, but I am on a tight budger these days. Then I could take the plasma with me to cut things up and not have the extra weight of the welder. Though it is not that much more weight. And I have a Cut50D at the office now I can borrow

I should have posted this thread in the "pro" welder groups here as they're respectful to people learning to weld and 13 year old kids trying or a father and son having fun, but since it is Everlast equipment I used, I chose to put it here. Alex at Everlast, who has been great, said post pictures if you can. I thought I would do that as he has taken care of me and the people I have sent him. And my son would get a kick out the positive responses.

For some reason "you" sir have a problem with me. Not sure why?

But you seem to keep tabs on my posts and that is really odd and scary. You did not seem to recall I bought a Everlast Super200P that was yellow, I complained about the color in the post. This welder is RED, so it is not "a Super200P" or the same one. It was bought later for my company so I did get the combo I wanted as well. It did not come out of "my" budget at all.

For your information as you like to quote me. My budget is still the same. What "I" get for me and what "I" get for the company I work for, my Dad and friends get, that is not out of "my" budget AND not your business, I believe it's Everlast's though as they are making the sales on them.

If my company welder or cutter (sand blasting booth, etc) are stored in my garage, I can use them. I can call them mine if that is OK with you? And my boss is a family friend. I would never "take" from anyone, let alone him, as "you" seem to try to show in your comment I am a thief. I take THAT with the most offense. What kind of person are you with that comment not knowing my situation or me?

So your wrecked our little post? It really does not matter as we will weld more tonight and I will have fun with my son, the post was just to have people promote his effort and show the panel to other Everlast buyers. I will just skip the posting part.

Bruce, thanks for the laugh. I needed it right about now. Just wasted a small part of my weekend on a post.

Over the hill. Man, my bead was better than his. But tonight I will grind his metal too and see what we get. I let him do the back of mine so he had to work it.

I have plenty of land and lots of welders it seems. When you moving down? :D

Thanks for the laugh.

Boy, Sorry that stuck such a nerve with you. Just thought there were some contradicting statements there, most I think might agree?
Keep tabs on your posts? No.... I just like reading many of the posts from many of WW members, it's a welding forum and welding /cutting is a hobby of mine and also a business so it's just natural that I read many threads.
Hope you have fun with your son, it's great you're introducing him to welding/cutting, he'll be able to use these skills for the rest of his life and I am sure will have many fond memories of the time you spend teaching him.
Have a nice weekend, Larry

You sir are a prince, I wish my bead looked half as nice as your Apprentice' does!
I came to this late in life, one day it works well for me, the next, everything looks like "hammered dog excrement" (pardon the language).
My kids bought me my Lincoln Weld Pack for Christmas in 2002, I think? Heres the reason I'm learning to weld.

Not sure who "most" are, as YOU are the ONLY one leaving posts here telling me what welder I have, my finances, and that my office is missing a cutter.

I was hoping for "nice weld", add more post flow. Wanna adopt me was great Bruce.

And in reading them, do you stalk other people? Make rude comments not knowing them? If I had a picture of a nice car would you assume I took that from someone?

I will have fun with him but this thread will not be one of his fond memories or mine.

Bruce, if I show my son your buggy he would want you to move down to Floirda right away.

He has a lifted golf cart now. Has/had quads and many other toys. But I am sure he would want to take that for a drive.

I joke with my son, we call it "bird poop". With the Oxy/Acet it is always nice, but slow. MIG it is a 50/50 (50% of the time it will look like poo) but fast.

The TIG, so far is nice far as the welds and faster than Oxy and no major warping.

Storts,

Nice toy, I know my little guy would like that too. hahahaha..

I guess I will backoff on Larry, but the comment about office being out struck a nerve, and the "he said I said". And all the digs when I was here to show panel setting and my son and my fun..

Awesome Pics. I am trying to get my son started. I think the only purpose for him will be to build skateboard rails. Which is cool with me since we both skate.

The pictures of a weld done by a son have a different "Acceptance Standard" in my book. Those are top quality welds.

Thanks for the kind words. We played with the duty cycle a bit.

It is fun going things with him for sure. We have done golf carts, trailers, etc. We went out again last night and he did another weld, about the same. But I think they will hold up. But he is getting better for sure.

Nice stuff! I enjoy spending time in the shop with my sons too.
Try not to take stuff personally on these (or any) forums... I learned a long time ago you need thick skin to spend any time on the inernet.

Wow, I just noticed I raised this from the dead... sorry about that

It needed to come back, it was a good one, which I think we all will agree, we need more of 'em! :waving:
