Hello all. I've been lurking for a week or so and had already learned a fair amount. I now need to ask some questions (see above) so I joined up.

I'm new to all welding. My dad has a stick welder I tried to use a some years ago but never got the hang of striking and holding the arc. I decided to get a gas outfit so I could cut, braze and weld most metals with one rig, once I learn how.

At this point it looks like I'll need to do this self-taught. I've tried to find welding courses around here, but it looks like most of the community and technical colleges in Massachusetts have gone high tech and no longer offer welding classes. I'll keep looking, but who knows...

Take Care.
Kevin

I am in the same boat as you are. I ordered the cutting and gas welding videos from wall mountain and they are very basic but very instructional also. I would definately recomend them if you are starting from zero.

I'm new to this Board to guys. But I have been doing some reading here and there is some good Information across the board!!! If you don't ask Questions you will never get it answered. There is no such thing as a stupid Question, but boy have I heard some stupid answers. Welcome.

Self taught is probly the best I took a collage course for welding and i felt ripped off, you just have to stay deicaded and plunty of practice, until you do find a place to take classes, who knows, you may find a better teacher then what I had
