Replaced wire spool on my HH 180. When I replaced the contact tip, it seemed to protrude past the nozzle more than I recall. I know it's seated properly. Is there a specific dimension for the tip past the end of the nozzle?

I have a small Hobart 135, and the tips screwed in harder, and didn't seem to go as far in after the machine got older. I wonder if the heat slightly distorts the threads in the torch. I use an anti spatter paste dip, so I figure it isn't spatter on the threads.

For me, it isn't too much of an issue because I mostly weld outside, and use flux core. I don't have the gas nozzle on most of the time, it sits in the tool chest.

On some brands, they do have different length tips for different applications. Additionally, they wear down or the nozzle does.
