We are working a shutdown in that area starting around Jan. 2. We may end up needing an extra guy or two.
Must have the following qualifications:
1)Gotta be able to TIG aluminum, we are replacing 144 2" pipe nipples that are about 2"
off the floor, we'll be crawling around working the torches with thumbwheels
2)Have a strong work ethic, take pride in your work and know what the hell your doing.
3)Be able to put up with our goofy asses and show us local restaurants after work.
Send me a PM if you are interested it will last about 10 days.

Not sure about the Exxon part but I am told it is a petro-chemical place. We have to show up two days early for safety training. I get to take the 10 hour OSHA class again! Oh boy!
TJ's ribs? I'm there. I'll tell 'em Duane sent me

DC's Lounge in Terrytown (New Orleans sorta). Best hamburger I've ever had and the scenery (strip joint, but about as low key a place as I have ever been in) was pretty nice the last time I was there.

Welcome to Cancer Alley, Mississippi River between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. More chemical plants than you would like to know exist.
Restaurants, well they are almost as plentiful as chemical plants. Check the yellow pages or ask at the plant for local preferences nearest the job.
In Baton Rouge some are:
Ruth's Chris Steak House *****
Mike Anderson's Seafood ****
Serop's Lebanese Food ****
Ralp and Kacoo's Seafood ****
ton's of bar/restaurants
TJ Ribs is a Sports Bar setting
Baton Rouge is a food cultured town, restaurants are everywhere, the hardest part is deciding the type of food you want.

Edit: Local Drive thru's are much better than a MacWhopper.

Thanks for the info
TJ Ribbs is a local rest.? Puleeeez!
Drive a few miles west on I-10 to Henderson/Breaux Bridge and go to Pat's. You can eat some of the best in local cuisine and watch the water moccasins sun themselves from your table.
There are lots of real local restaurants in the BR and surrounding area. Ask the locals.

Pat's restaurant is the best place to eat cajun food. (IMO) Pat's Seafood Platter is the best, and I've eaten at probably every restaurant in the south.(cajun/seafood restaurants):waving:

I got laid off 2 weeks before christmas, they had a meeting with everyone and told everyone to go sign up for unemployment, because they couldnt pay anyone holiday pay because of poor management. they said the money just wasnt there. the jobs around here seem to pay welders crap, and so many other welding jobs, dont want to discuss what they are paying unless they hire you. Like its a big secret. If I am going to have to drive some distance for work, I would like to know what the pay is. One co. I had an interview with was really not wanting to discuss the pay, so when I told him I would like to know to see if it was worth the drive 5 days a week, he did tell me. But he also got an attitude. Well the short of it is I didnt go to the interview because I wouldnt like to work for aCo. like that! So here I am still looking. If you know anywhere around reading or lancaster PA I would be interested.
