Hello,

I finally got around to joining this site after some lurking. Anyway I must be nuts because lately I've been thinking maybe I'd rather become a welder/fabricator. I've been a pretty sucessful electrician for the past ten years and licensed for last few, but there's no craft lefted in that field anymore if there ever was.

I dig electrical, carpentry, plumbing, architecture and building almost anything in general. I have a sincern interest in all of those avenues but welding has had the biggest grip on me for the past five years. I purposely bought a lincoln 200 amp stick welder (to cure a interest in building large metal sculpture) in the beginning instead of a MIG so I could learn that method before I would even touch a MIG. I made it almost 3 years before I broke down and go a lincoln MIG with a bottle and a O/A kit. I can't rattle off rod numbers and properties but that doesn't stop me from running a pretty good bead more often than not lately. Mig is nice but I love the stick welder more, I know than must sound mental.

Nothing gives me more pleasure than a saturday, sunday or monday night of cutting, grinding and welding. Is this normal? I can't be the only one. I'm seriously debating a career change. I'm hoping maybe I figure out how to persuse it from spending some time on this board. Anyway sorry for the long winded hello.
