Or Adobe flash player. I had to roll back one version from 10 to 9. Everything's been good since. Also make sure you don't have two versions. Once in a zillion adobe will install a newer version without 'uninstalling' the old one.

You haven't recently said anything bad about a certain Chinese welding machine, have you? Just thinking out loud.

That silly, mindless Flash ad is missing today at the top of the page and BOY is this fast now.

About time that silliness was dumped.

I understand your frustration.
Here is part of the problem.
It depends on which version or which internet browser you are using.
For example I am using Explorer 5.5

Many computers cannot be upgraded because it is too old for SHOCKWAVE 8 which is needed for those FLASH files.
Also now anybody making a webpage can load anything they want -like huge 2-3000 pixel wide images and Explorer 7 is supposed to resize the images FOR YOU ,sort of like a funnel.
Well that takes up a lot of time right there. Everything has been dumbed down. But they made more bandwith -kind of like a larger garage, but you know people will just fill it up with crap.
Everyone needs to learn to resize images and do not use flash unless it is absolutely necessary. It is a memory hog.

I could go on and on but it is just like the earth's resources....we all need to be less of a HOG.
Many people just HOG out because they have the money,
But we cannot all afford to just keep buying new hardware and soft ware every few months.
I have had my MAC G4 for 10 years and it works perfectly EXCEPT the internet.
It is ONLY the internet that causes me any grief.

But many people are thousands of dollars in debt buying the latest gadget and they cannot even fully use the programs they already have.
How many people fully understand and can use all of the features of Photoshop? Not many.

Right On! Right ON! We DO NOT NEED that Flash crap.
We do not need to see words moving across the screen.
Matter fact I like it to stay still so I CAN read it and really get to see it.

If everyone got rid of flash and movies these forums would really speed up.
One forum I was participating in came to a complete halt when movies were allowed.

Just to show someone doing something stupid.

Oh I know ....I am supposed to go out and buy all new stuff to see the movies. Forget it.
I have better things to do with my money.

Desktop: Slackware Linux 12.2, Kernel huge-smp-2.6.27.7-smp
Medion Computer, AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+, Generic 1 GB PC133 SDRAM
RADEON X300

NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller
HP Photosmart 8200 (USB)
Moniter NEC Model LCD1970GX

Firefox Browser 3.0.6
Shockwave Flash 10

While the Flash ad at the top of the page loads nothing else happens until it is finished. Too slow to suit me.

OK, back on the runnning slow thang, I did the clean up as mention, deleted a bunch of garbage, etc etc. Changed some settings. Running better, but I dont know if what I did on my computer helped the problem or if the site or Inet was having a problem at the time. Anyway, as long as it is not hanging up and I dont have to restart every 5 minutes, I am good to go. Thanks for the replies on the post.
