Hey guys. The only thing know about welding is that I like it. I have never taken a formal class or had any formal instruction. About four years ago I bought a Miller Legend from my neighbor and decided to learn how to use it because I had always been interested in welding. I took it home and grabbed every piece of metal laying around and started sticking them together. It is a lot of fun. I've built a few things, but nothing any other redneck couldn't put together. I know that many of you here are very skilled and have been welding for a long time. I look forward to picking your brains as much as possible. Thanks for a great site.

This is a great site. I have already learned a lot from everyone in just a couple days. I am really at the point where I am not even sure which questions to start asking. Perhaps you guys can steer me. I enjoy off-roading and own a ranch. I would like to build a rock crawler or dune buggy, but after reading some of what has been posted I have realized I need to learn quite a bit. I have built all of the bumpers and rock slides on my jeep.

I do all of my own welding for the ranch, but anyone can fix a broken disc or fab up a furrower. I am about to finish a brush rake that will fit my little ford 8n. I have welded a lot of drill stem for fencing (that was my first real project). I put in 3000 ft. of pipe and 5000 ft. of cable for my mother's horse ranch. But, like I said, after reading through some of this site anyone can stick fencing together.

I have put together a few peices of equipment that help me get my work done: Miller Legend 200-LE, Lincoln 135+, and torch and bottles(all mounted in a Wells Cargo trailer). I know it isn't fancy stuff, but it works so far. I do most of my welding with my Miller and just use the Lincoln for tacking stuff together before I weld it. I also use the Lincoln for some little stuff.

Thanks again for a great site and all the sharing of ideas.
