washing machine motor/ bench grinder

im looking at making a bench grinder and need some ideas on how to start

I'm going to sound like a dick, but I'm okay with that. Go to the store and buy one. For $50-$60 around here I can get an 8" bench grinder with course and fine stones. 1hp motor. The one I have only cost me $40 cuz it was a display and the light was broke. I think mine is a Wilton.
