Im interested in buying a new MIG welder. I dont have any special wireing but know that the plug my washing machine goes into is 220V. The welders im interested in say they need an input of 208 or 230. I think that somewhere i read that you can get a plug that converts from 208 to 220. Is this true? If so how much is that? and where do i get one?

As far as your dryer/household voltage goes those terms of 220/230/240 are all language variations of one and the same. Don't worry about it. There is a 208 operating voltage but it is highly unlikely you would encounter that in any residential arena. As for your welder, IF it has a selectable ranges (208 or 230), it will most likely be a jumper or strap change. And it will most likely be preset for the 230volt mode. There wil be big notes directing you on that. Once set for the 230 volts operation it will be good to go.
Nope there is no cord to convert from 208 to 230.

What are the model numbers of the plugs on the dryer and the welder?
