Hi everyone,

I'm living in Portugal but, I have canadian citizenship, the industry is too quiet in Europe, as far as I know, so would like to know what are the chances of me getting a job in North America, I do tig and stick welding, haven't got my stick certificate only tig.

Is there any compny that I should have a look at?
I know that Fluor Daniel has some work going on in Africa it would be a good option for me too, but I have sent my CV and haven't got a reply.

Sorry for my english, only have the citizenship never been in Canada before ;)

Thanks in advance

The way the laws are written, I guess you are too.

Doesn't really make any sense though..... In any event, your post wasn't about that.

I do not know what certifications you have, or how they will crossover to anything in Canada or the United States.

Here is a link that will give you access to the Apprenticeship System Home Pages for all the Provinces and Territories.

Best I can do.

Yes you are a legal Canadian citizen by birthright, but my friend right now Canada or at least Ontario sucks for decent paying welding jobs. Check out Service Canada www.jobbank.gc.ca then select your province. The last job I was offered paid $22 /hr nightshift for a qualified and certified SMAW, GTAW, FCAW CWB and TSSA qualified welder/fitter and I have been that for 25 years

best of luck ... Paul (but I would be headed east young man)

Hows things in Canada right now? My oldman has been working in Alberta since 2001 and says that next year the industry will pick up again.
