I'm thinking about moving out west. How are things looking in Utah?

I can't speak from a welding perspective, but Wyoming, Utah, the Dakotas, and other states around here have the lowest unemployment in the nation (around 5%).....

Southern Utah is beautiful, if you like the red sandstone desert scenery; I do. But it's really HOT down there in the summer. And the population density is low. I suppose there are jobs; but less people may mean less work. Make sure you have something lined up. And if it's in southern Utah, you'd better like HOT. FWIW: I went to Lake Powell for 25 years, on vacation. But we had a lake to jump in. When we went there to ride the Moab jeep roads (off road motorcycles), it was in the spring and fall. JTMC has a good business in NW Arizona, I believe.

Edit: It is, however, a dry heat. :D

Utah is too far north to be hot. Come to Yuma where it's a bit warmer if you like dry heat.

If you are good at fabbing stuff, check out the people that live around the area & are into running Moab. They may have something you could do.

Last I heard, Moab was taken over by the yuppie, bicycle pedaling, hybrid driving, enviro-geeks. If your welder doesn't work on solar panels, yer out. :gunsfirin I'll admit, I was younger last time I was there and off-road vehicles were the economy. Every motel parking lot was full of 4wd's or off road motorcycles on trailers. :(
