Trailer Lights question

Why do my blinkers blink faster and dimmer when I have my trailer attached to my van? Can this be corrected?

Check you grounds. Otherwise you may have to go to a heavier duty flasher switch.

Blinkers units use a bi-metal strip and a heater,
more bulbs=more current=faster blinkers and
you are overloading the unit so the bulbs are dimmer.
I went to the local parts store and picked up
an electronic unit that ran at the same speed flashing
up to12 bulbs. Price was only a little more than the regular replacement.

I'll see if my parts store carries one of those units. I am pretty sure the grounds are good, but either a heavier duty or an electronic version of my flasher might be just the trick.
