Hello....

I'm new to welding and new this forum. I'll hang back a bit and try to learn some before asking too many questions. I had a Lincoln SP-135 Plus for a while and found it fun to use, but I've sold it and am now considering what to replace it with. I weld only as a hobby and most recently have begun trying to weld aluminum. I did a small project using 1/8" aluminum plate, but found my SP-135 unit somewhat problematic (given all welding processes are somewhat problematic for me at this stage). The project turned out OK, but I had to send out a "MayDay" to a welder friend with a larger MIG unit.

I'm now wondering if I'd be better off, as I DO want to work some with aluminum as well as steel & possibly even other metals, to get a TIG unit; like maybe the Lincoln TIG-185.

I'll look forward to any/all comments / advice on choosing a new tool.

Thanks,

j
