220 Question

I just moved into my house a few months ago. The previuos homeonwer had a 220 line ran outside for a generator hookup when power went out. I was wondering if I could plug my welder into that to use the welder. Know it does not have the same plug as my welder so I'll have to redo the plug.

Since that was specifically for a generator 'input', it's really tuff to say. We would need more info. Is it setting on a double in the main panel? Two wire with ground? Three wire with ground? What size breaker if any? What sized wire?
