Hi,
Great forum. I've been using for a whiIe to find out stuff but I figured I should join and contribute now that I've done a 'major' (for me) project. I'll post photos of a dirt bike rack I made for the tow hitch of a Toyota Landcruiser that withstood a week of heavy 4-wheel driving through the Simpson Desert in the centre of Australia - the 'outback'. It may not be useful to anyone but you never know.
I've had a small MIG welder for 10 years for basic maintenance but I did a welding short course (8 evenings) and bought a 200 Amp AC/DC TIG/Arc welder for the bike rack project.
My new project is a scissor-action workshop bike lift with an air-over hydraulic ram. I'm only at the design stage and have never had to make an axle (i.e. weld in a tube to mount a bush/bearing) so that'll be my first forum post!
Regards,
...Rod
