Hi,
I'm new to this forum. Just started learning to weld earlier this year. I really enjoy the experience of learning something new, and boy! is this ever new, to me. I started with a really cheap AC welder from one of the discount stores, and quickly realized that I needed to buy something else. I just got a Hobart Stickmate LX AC/DC, and I love it! I am in the throes of a self-taught course in stick welding, but I'm seeing some progress. I'll try not to ask any really stupid questions, but bear with me, as I am a total novice. Hope to learn a lot; thanks for listening............Nctox:drinkup:

Hi Ya nctox and Welcome to the Welding Weld Family. As for the questions don't feel afraid to ask! We like to see the williness to learn of new welders. You found out that it is easy to outgrow that first welder fast especially when its one of those discount cheapies. Beat of luck on your learning! You still may want to consider a short course or two at your local community college, trade or welding school.

Interesting handle you've got there. What's the origin?

Handle is from Air Force Gunship AC-130H Spectre. Specter was my flight name. A flying ghost "spooky".

I, too, was in the gunship program, back in '73-'74. Probably before your time. PM me if you were there around then. Nctox:gunsfirin
