Newbie Hobby Welder

Hi,
I'm new to this forum. Just started learning to weld earlier this year. I really enjoy the experience of learning something new, and boy! is this ever new, to me. I started with a really cheap AC welder from one of the discount stores, and quickly realized that I needed to buy something else. I just got a Hobart Stickmate LX AC/DC, and I love it! I am in the throes of a self-taught course in stick welding, but I'm seeing some progress. I'll try not to ask any really stupid questions, but bear with me, as I am a total novice. You found out that it is easy to outgrow that first welder fast especially when its one of those discount cheapies. Beat of luck on your learning! Handle is from Air Force Gunship AC-130H Spectre. Specter was my flight name. A flying ghost "spooky".
