Just a question about a Hobart MC-500. This welder was for sale on the local auction and went for about $160 US Dollars. It's an electric motor powered generator unit with a mig set up on top. (I saw a similar unit on ebay for $US1500 auction number 380028074377).
As it was a bargain price but I don't have 3 phase power to run it, I was wondering if it could be diesel powered by driving into the motor shaft?
I figure that would depend on whether the "control" wiring was powered from the 3 phase supply or from the generated power.
Any ideas, please? Just in case I spot another bargain like it.
