Hi,
I'm new to this forum and just wanted to say hello. I worked in IT for the past 25 years and hated it. Five years ago I retired and took a welding course and an auto-body course at a local technical high school. I haven't welded since I took the course but have recently started again. My welds look terrible but they stick the metal together for now. I know that it's like anything alse the more you do it the better you become at it.
I just finished my first welding project which is a barbell weight holder for the rear of my lawn tractor. I just purchased my first tractor a troy built. It is made of thin sheet metal. My next project will be to create a new frame for the tractor out of 1/4" c channel that I already have. Couldn't justify a larger beefier tractor to the wife.
I have been purchasing the metal through metasdepot.com and onlinemetals.com. The shipping is a killer. If anyone knows of a good place to get metal in the Boston MA area please let me know.
Neil
