New guy here. From Iowa. Never welded before in my life till about a year ago when i got a job making step rails for concrete steps(using a stickwelder). My boss just had me run some beads and let me go at it while occasionally giving me pointers.
my first beads were fulla craters and really hard to clean. Now after running a bead i just hit it once with the hammer and the slag pops off with nice silver weld under it.. :) well, most of the time anyways...lol. Anyway i'm kinda addicted to it now lol. love making a good bead. Been going to a few welding forums and decided to join this one. Now i can get some answers n advice i need. :) We only use 1/8" to 14 gauge steel in our business. But i think i'll get some 1/4 plate n cut coupons n practice welding them up good. Anyways nuff bout me.. time to cruise the forums.
