Well, probably no one, including me, knew what you were talking about in the first post.
Also it would help if we knew where you are located.
I pay 78 for both high speed and cable.

I was paying $95. per month for 3mbs Internet and unlimited calling from Windstream, and $65. per month for 73 cable channels thru US cable. I had US cable install unlimited telephone (no charges for long distance), 125 TV channels and 6mbs Internet for $130. per month. They hooked it all up before they left the house and I added a wireless router. I'm happy with the install and the savings. 52 more channels, twice the speed on Internet and $30. per month savings! Got NFL network and half a dozen ESPN channels with the change, too.

I actually had a pretty good idea as to what he meant, but more information would be good (he is trying to suggest brushing up on your communication skills).
I don't know if you are locked into some form of contract, but if you are the penalties for canceling (stupid and insane) is something to be considered. Once you are certain you are going to switch providers I would contact a few different companies. Do research upon it, haggle with companies, explain the situation and so on. Some companies will offer you a special premium for switching, figure out a time line for setting up the new service and canceling your old one. For this, you'd want to call them and ask them when the last day of service would be if you canceled your service, and try and align your new service to be setup around then. I don't know if you have any cables ran to your home from a pole or underground, but they may need to do that.
